Module 6 is a series of video scenarios.

It's the story of John who is American from San Francisco, he is a Tahitian dancer and a student of Poly-lingual. He loves Tahiti and its culture, dance and language.

He travels to Tahiti with his dance group and get to spend some time with Mareva (his friend) and her family.

He will learn how to speak Tahitian with Mareva and her family. He practices speaking Tahitian everyday and his pronunciation gets better along the way.

  • Video Scenario #1: John learn how to introduce himself in Tahitian

John, (Marevaʻs friend) from San Francisco, California will be having a conversation with Marevaʻs brother Teuira. Teuira never met John before, Teuira will ask him some typical questions to get to know him better.John will introduce himself by answering Teuiraʻs questions.

  • Video Scenario #2: John learn how to introduce his family in Tahitian

Mareva introduces her family to John, her friend from san Francisco. Mareva has a very big family and have a lots of friends, she will present them to John. John will also talk about his family.

  • Video Scenario #3: John eats Tahitian traditional food with Marevaʻs family on a sunday morning

This video scenario takes place at the Market place in Papeete, known as “Le marché de Papeete”.

Mareva and her mother Māmā Moea are taking John to the Market place in Papeete. The market place is a place of "rendez-vous" for all the people from all the districts in Tahiti. It’s a place where you can buy local products, food, traditional crafts, pearls, clothing, souvenirs etc…There’s something for everyone.

This video scenario takes place at Māmā Moeaʻs house. She lives right by the beach and every sunday, Mareva and her family have brunch together at Māmā Moeaʻs house. They get to eat the "Māʻa Tahiti", the Tahitian traditional food as a family.

In this video you will learn about the “mā’a tahiti”, the Tahitian traditional food, about the famous raw fish with coconut milk, called the “poisson cru” in French or the “i’a ota tāhaʻari”, the tahitian’s favorite food of all.

This video scenario takes place at a Tahitian dance studio in the city of Paea. John asked to learn the reo tahiti with Haunui who is a professor of Tahitian dance. John wanted to learn the most common Tahitian phrases used during dance class.

This video scenario takes place at the grand theatre of "Te Fare Tauhiti Nui", the house of culture in Tahiti. John is going to watch the "Hura Tapairu manihini" with Marevaʻs family. The "Hura Tapairu Manihini" is a popular tahitian dance competition open to all international tahitian dance groups from all over the world that takes place every year.

In this video scenario, John go on a tour of the island of Tahiti with Mareva and her husband Teva. They will circle the island and stop at the most popular and beautiful spots of Tahiti.

  • Video Scenario #8: John says farewell to Marevaʻs family at the airport

After a couple days in Tahiti, it is time for John to go back to San Francisco, California. He says goodbye to Mareva and her family. He tells them thank you for all the time he spent in Tahiti, he is grateful for the experience and for everything he learned.
